Type: Adventure Elopement

Location: Grand Teton National Park, WY

Some weddings you remember for the venue. Some for the flowers or the dress or the reception. But every now and then you film a day that you remember for something entirely different — the way two people looked at each other like nothing else existed. That was Taylor and Chris.

They flew all the way from the East Coast to say their vows in Grand Teton National Park. A place that meant something to them — not just a beautiful backdrop, but a location they chose with intention. When a couple does that, travels that far to stand in a place that matters, you feel it in every moment of the day.

The Tetons as a Backdrop

If you’ve never filmed in Grand Teton National Park, it’s hard to describe what it does to footage. The scale is unlike anything else in the American West. Mountains that rise straight out of flat valley floor, no foothills to ease you in — just sky and stone and open range. Every wide shot feels cinematic without trying.

For an elopement specifically, the Tetons are everything. No crowds, no noise, no distraction. Just the two of you and one of the most breathtaking places on earth. As a Grand Teton elopement videographer, I’ve found that the location does half the work — the couple just has to show up and be themselves.

The Vows That Stopped Everything

Taylor and Chris wrote their own vows. And when the moment came — standing there with the Tetons behind them, just the two of them and the open air — they delivered them in a way I don’t think either of them planned. Raw. Honest. The kind of words you write alone at a kitchen table at midnight and wonder if you’ll actually be able to say out loud.

They said them. Every word. And that’s the moment the film was made.

“A moment only exists once. A film of it lasts forever.”

That’s why I do this work. Not for the mountains — though they help — but for the moments like that one. The ones that happen once, in real time, and then they’re gone. Except they’re not, because we filmed them.

Planning a Grand Teton Elopement

If you’re considering eloping in Grand Teton National Park, here’s what you should know. First — you need a permit if you’re having any kind of ceremony on park grounds. Apply through the National Park Service well in advance, especially for peak season dates. Second — the light. Golden hour in the Tetons is something else entirely. If you can time your vows or portraits for the hour before sunset, your photos and film will look like nothing you’ve ever seen.

Third — bring someone who knows how to move quietly and capture what’s actually happening rather than directing every moment. An elopement in a place like this isn’t a production. It’s an experience. Your elopement videographer should disappear into the day, not run it.

That’s exactly what I try to be. A quiet presence with a camera. Someone who shows up prepared, stays out of the way, and hunts for the moments nobody told them to get.

What Taylor & Chris Said

“Kyle is definitely someone you should hire for your wedding/elopement videography! He did such a good job at keeping our video raw but elegant and beautiful with such scenic clips of the Tetons. He was so professional and amazing and clear to work with and we have nothing but amazing things to say about him. We are seriously considering flying him out to do our wedding all the way across the United States in New England. We are so so happy with the work he was able to provide us and his ability to use communication and honesty to help us navigate the whole process and we couldn’t be happier!”

— Taylor & Chris · Grand Teton Elopement

When Taylor sent me this review I read it three times. “Raw but elegant” is exactly what I’m going for every single time. That’s the balance — something that feels real and unforced but looks like a film. When a couple puts that into words without being prompted, it means everything.

The fact that they’re considering flying me out to New England for their wedding says more about what this experience meant to them than I ever could. That’s what I want every couple to feel — not just happy with a video, but genuinely glad I was there.

Interested in a Teton Elopement Film?

I’m based in Idaho Falls, which means the Tetons are practically in my backyard. Whether you’re local or flying in from across the country the way Taylor and Chris did, I travel for elopements anywhere in the Teton region — Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole, Jenny Lake, Signal Mountain, Schwabacher Landing. If you’re planning an elopement in Wyoming or anywhere else in the world, I’d love to be your destination elopement videographer.
